Georgii Uvs: THE GATE
Title
THE GATE exhibition by London-based artist Georgii Uvs is presented in Eagle gallery of
the Cafesjian Center for the Arts.
The curator of the exhibition is Ellen Nash (Nashikian).
Georgii Uvs, both philosopher and artist, strives to express the unique psychological
and emotional states he believes humanity is experiencing. The only medium through which
he expresses his existential conclusions and explorations is paint. He uses paint as his
sole medium, foregoing brushes and traditional tools, crafting his paints from medieval
recipes and his own secrets.
THE GATE series emerged during one of the most transitional periods in human history,
THE GATE series emerged during one of the most transitional periods in human history,
affecting all civilisations and countries, regardless of race, creed, or political
regime - COVID-19 and the lockdown.
The works in THE GATE series use two primary colours - black and red - highlighted by
the artist’s signature ultraviolet pigment technique. As soon as the light changes, the
ultraviolet pigment begins to 'resonate' with vivid colours.
